How Can You Play On A Woman's Emotions

Taxis and Buses - Facilities for Disabled, Truth or Myth?

yellow in the scheme, facilities for the disabled were invalid, this is so considering that the entrances were narrow and the stairs to climb were quite high, and usually the only thing in which the disabled are respected in the seat was preferred by law.

However, it was agreed Transantiago of the disabled, and the Standard Transantiago regulates precisely the rigid and articulated buses that come to our public transport system must have low floor and a special corner for the disabled, the respective belts and the access ramp .

How this facility is applied?

The disabled have been able to get the space they need on the buses, it's own people or vendors that facilitates their entry by means of the ramp and users have understood the importance of this.

However, not everything is as perfect , there are times when the bus operators to be no problems, simply do not allow the disabled access, making a public protest campaign (one case recalled a letter to the editor of the newspaper Ultimas Noticias in which a disability claim with the arrogance of impotence service conductor E14).

Do companies think about the disabled?

Two years Transantiago system, there has been a change in the image of the city, we have no high-polluting buses, we have world-class infrastructure (bus riders, shelters, new borders) but the buses, some operational units remain the same refurbished before 2005, and this goes against the facilities the disabled. The

Statistics Transantiago Buses published September 12, 2009 in this way, are the following:

Disability Facilities
buses: Buses WITHOUT
3213 buses: buses
3214 TOTAL: 6427

buses literally 50% of buses Transantiago NOT have facilities for disabled , ie we are talking about a fiction to say that "the disabled are not discriminated against." However, it is contemplated to be so complete fleet renewal by 2010. Transantiago system, just may be tried as such in that year it is a large scale project and, although it is already implemented, the truth is that it has its stages.

Following the recent statistics of today are the core services that are more buses to these facilities, they are required to bring rigid and articulated buses with these features, and although they are less operational units (5 vs 9 Trunk Feeders ), trunk buses are more numerous than the feeders.

By Service Type Trunk Bus
WITH: 2,860 buses in 4051 (70.59%)
feeders Buses: 443 buses, 2,376 (18.6%)

Although two years have passed system, or even 20% of feeder buses have disabled facilities, this because most of these companies becomes a topic of minibuses in costs, leading to abuse this.

Anyway, on this issue can not be blamed but each company, as each has autonomy to determine what kind of buses will bring and how it will comply with the contracts with the government. For that reason, I also show the statistics of each company so they can judge each one by their performance.

Statistics for Operational Unit: Facilities for Disabled
Core 1 - Investment Alsace 91.08 % (572 of 628)
Core 2 - Subus Chile: 100 % (981 of 981)
Core 3 - Buses Gran Santiago: 0.8% (8 / 945)
Core 4 - Santiago Express One: 73.28% (691 of 943)
Core 5 - Metro Bus: 92 % (508 of 552)
Feeder 1 (Area C ) - Veolia Transport: 20.4% (59 of 288)
Feeder 2 ( Zone D) - STP Santiago: 14.2% (29 of 204)
Feeder 3 ( Zone E) - Union of Transport: 41.5% (91 of 219)
Feeder 4 ( Zone F) - STP Santiago: 27.5% (83 of 301)
Feeder 5 ( Zone G ) - The Araucaria: 32.5% (79 of 243)
Feeder 6 (Zone I ) - Commercial New Millennium: 3.2 % (13 of 402)
Feeder 7 (J Zone) - Commercial New Millennium: 7.3% (20 of 271)
Feeder 8 (Zone B ) - Buses Gran Santiago: 0 % (0 of 290)
feeder 9 (H Zone ) - Transaraucarias: 40.3% (69 of 171)

As you can see, Subus Chile (Core 2), Buses Metropolitana (Core 5) and Investment Alsace (Core 1) are the best in this area, having over 85% of its fleet with wheelchair access . In

feeder buses, meanwhile, Transaraucarias (Feeder 9 / Area H) and Transport Union (Feeder 3 / Zone E) are bus companies with more rigid with these facilities, both with more than 35% of its fleet.

The black dot statistic is marked by the Great Santiago Buses company, which provides us daily with 1,227 re-conditioned buses no facilities for the disabled, and only 8 standard buses that do have them, taking into account its two operating units . The "good is that fleet renewal is the core unit, leaving at least about 400 buses reconditioned.

Reflection Article
Transantiago
The idea, as public transport system was that everyone could access it, and to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Santiago. In part, this has not been fully met by the poor implementation that was at first shocking image and the media sent to the community, however, is everyone that the system works.

The call here is for users who care to say more buses and if you see a disabled person, help him up and evenly distribute the bus so that there is a complication, and, above all, businessmen, especially feeder units, to acquire buses with these facilities. We can not let down for a substantial proportion of the population gives an example of life.
